Eurospares (continental parts) Ltd are
the largest supplier of new and used Ferrari Lamborghini and Maserati spare parts outside the dealer network within Europe.
I officially joined the team in October 2004 after being asked to design and build a website for the company.
My initial duties were to administer the website with the continuously changing stock, along with helping out the sales team
during busy periods.
Before long, the website had taken off extremely successfully, generating a large number of enquiries. With the additional workload I
was fully intergrated into the sales team, building an ever increasing customer base whilst trying to juggle the website administration.
|
I had since got involved with the advertising of the company; designing adverts and organizing bookings, both in the print and
digital media. Being straight away thrown into the deep end with the sales, my knowledge of the parts and the cars themselves
was improving by the day, enabling me to deal with enquiries more efficiently and taking on a greater work load.
By February 2005, Eurospares had greatly outgrown the initial website, and it was agreed that a new database driven website
was required. I came up with the idea to integrate the exploded parts diagrams and accompanying literature from which we worked
from into the website. After getting a variety of quotes from various companies (some quoting ludicrous figures) a team of
developers from Graphite Design seemed best suited to complete the task.
I had a number of meetings with the team before a final design and functionality list was agreed and the green light was given.
Whilst overseeing the project I also employed a team of three staff working under my supervision; digitizing the parts literature.
After various meetings with the team in London and a few changes to the initial design, the site was launched in February 2006;
a little over schedule, but on budget.
The website has proven an extremely useful tool within Eurospares. By providing customers with all the material required for them
to price and order any part required on-line, it has relieved the direct workload from the sales staff, enabling them to
concentrate in other areas. The use of the exploded parts diagrams within the website has also greatly improved international relations
and sales by eradicating any language barrier. Since the launch of the site, Eurospares have seen a great increase in custom from places such
as Japan and South Korea.
Whilst working at the company I was charged with developing an in house structure to accommodate the website stock control system, have
been sent to Italy on purchasing trips on a number of occasions, represented the company for magazine features and completed a trial
for a trainee Managing Directors position. Upon completing of the trial I declined the offer in order to travel for a year
before undertaking too many responsibilities.
You can learn more about the Eurospares website in the website section and get to kow a bit more about my
travel experiences in both the travel section and photo gallery.
